We boost social innovation, philantropy, contemporary culture, design and research, open resources and sustainability in exhibition and public space. The Index is an environmental ageny and art curatorial platform which operates at the intersection of practice and research. The index introduces projects in sustainable design, architecture, contemporary art, design and art theory, furthermore makers, design agencies and maker libraries which are functioning as a cooperative or a social enterprise.
Can art and design contribute to the world’s bigger problems, such as depletion and squandering of natural resources, population growth, consumerism and widespread poverty? In turn, can pooling knowledge and resources, re-evaluating the concept of time, and facilitating user participation help to make a strong contribution to sustainability?
The platform and network boosts social innovation and sustainability in global space. The Index works in trans-disciplinary fields for economical and ecological impact in culture, art and design, architecture, science and research. The consultation network includes a global network of Scientists, Economists, Researchers, Artists, Designers, Architects and Publishers/Media.
CONSULTATION & SUSTAINABILITY SERVICES
The Index is a consultation network, working in innovation management, sustainability services, life-cycle assessment, scientific research, CSR-projects, corporate publishing and cross-media agendas for culture and art institutions.
Commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an important element of good corporate citizenship, alongside sustainability and good governance. Modern CSR programmes are aligned with a corporate's business strategy and its engagement with key stakeholder groups. We support industry initiatives, customers and end-use segments to enable close engagement within the community and important stakeholders.
THE PLASTIC INDEX
The Plastic Index launched in Cape Town, South Africa in 2013. Design objects related to consumption and social change, furthermore a tool kit was launched and distributed during World Design Capital Cape Town 2014. The Plastic Index Kit is a tool book series with open source design.

The index cooperates with offices in Vienna, Austria and London, United Kingdom. We operate in global networks with affiliate partners in Cape Town, South Africa. The index works as an enterprise, association and NGO. The Index head office is based in Vienna, Austria.
