THROWN TO THE WIND
by WANG ZHIYUAN
Thrown to the Wind is an 11-metre-high tornado of plastic inspired by the avalanches of rubbish that deface Beijing. The Chinese Artist was inspired by the garbage and pollution that litters the streets of China. As a reaction to the incredible piles of food and plastic trash he sees on the city streets and sidewalks, Zhiyuan decided to create an art installation that would bring this issue to the forefront. Zhiyuan’s larger-than-life tornado of plastic waste represents the heaps of trash that overwhelm his home town and its surrounding environment.
